* Financial assistance is critical for those that lack the ability to pay for their treatment.

* In the United States, more than 1.3 million new cases are diagnosed each year accounting for $60.9 billion in direct medical costs. Because of the high costs of treatment, thousands of cancer patients are denied the treatment they need to survive.

* More than 135,000 new cancer cases will be diagnosed in California.

* Low income and uninsured individuals frequently seek medical assistance for ongoing health problems in more advanced stages of disease.

* Desert Cancer Foundation provides financial assistance for both cancer screening and treatment. Patients are well served by one agency to interact with for both cancer screening and treatment if a cancer diagnosis is made.  The process will be faster and more efficient, which will allow for even earlier treatment for the patient.
